About us

A bookseller, frustrated by the tattered and torn shelftalkers-those little capsule staff reviews-that hung off his bookstore’s shelves, has created a device that will be a welcome sight in bookstores everywhere. Gary Frank, the former owner of The Booksmith in San Francisco, not only wanted to neaten up his store’s shelftalkers, but he also wanted them to be easy to read and easily moveable, while still allowing customers to remove and replace books on shelves. He long ago realized that shelftalkers were a great merchandising tool that consistently increased the sales of titles they featured. They just needed a bit of an upgrade. Along comes shelfwiz, a handsome sign holder that clips to bookshelves and features a plexiglas frame to contain the shelftalker. The frame, which hangs below the shelf on which it is clipped, flips up and down to allow easy access to books that are behind it. To aid booksellers and librarians in creating their shelftalkers-or re-creating their worn out ones-a variety of Microsoft Word templates, specially designed for printing on blank perforated sheets that come with each shelfwiz order, are available to download at www.shelfwiz.com. Though his early marketing will be to booksellers and librarians, Frank soon plans to reach out to wine stores where wine reviews, like book reviews, are ubiquitous.

Currently, shelfwiz sign holders are available for ¾" and 1" shelves.
